It is all too glaring. Even to the not-so-politically conscious, it is evident that President Goodluck Jonathan will save himself and this country a lot of trouble if he does not seek re-election in 2015. Do not get me wrong. I am not talking about his constitutional eligibility. This is not an argument about his rights as a citizen to vote and be voted for. This is not even about the intrigues and politics of 2015 that have factionalised his party into a breakaway group known as the New PDP. Nigerians know that they are birds of the same feathers who will soon find compromise under their old battered umbrella.

Of course, President Jonathan has all the rights in the world to seek another term. After all, against all odds, despite the fact that he had no known track record of performance.

Nigerians, rightly or wrongly, kept faith with him in 2011. They also supported him in his trying times - when a devious cabal almost denied his ascendancy as President after the death of his boss, Umaru Yar’Adua.

Never mind these latter day ethnic bigots now whipping up sectional sentiments and making it seem that Jonathan is being criticised because of his ethnic background. It is either they have no sense of history or are deliberately creating a decoy to detract Nigerians from the real issues about the Jonathan’s Presidency.

Facebook murder suspect says he posted photo of dead wife online 'to notify her family'

A man who shot dead his wife and then posted grisly photos of her corpse on Facebook told police that he had posted the photos online to notify family members about what had happened.
Derek Medina made the bizarre claim regarding the shooting of 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso in his August 8 videotaped statement to Miami-Dade County Police detectives.
He claimed that he killed her in self-defense after she threatened him with a knife, following many previous abusive episodes.

But a police detective testifying on Tuesday contradicted that claim by saying that Ms. Alfonso was likely cowering and trying to defend herself before she was killed.
In his hearing testimony, Detective Jonathan Grossman said an autopsy and the position of Alonso's body indicates she was on her knees with one arm raised in front of her face when she was shot on Aug. 8 during an argument. 
The trajectories of the 380-caliber bullets indicate they were fired from above her, he added.
‘The victim was very low to the ground at the time she was shot,’ Grossman testified. ‘The victim appeared to be in a cowering position.’
